The Motovun Forest is a special reserve of forest vegetation, whose soil and microclimate create perfect conditions for the growth of the white truffle (Tuber magnatum Pico) – the most prized and expensive truffle in the world. It was right here that one of the largest white truffles of all time was found, even recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. In addition to the white truffle, the Motovun Forest is home to numerous species of black truffles (Tuber aestivum, Tuber melanosporum, Tuber uncinatum), which are equally prized among gourmets worldwide.

  • Black summer truffle (Tuber aestivum): from May to September

  • Black winter truffle (Tuber brumale): from January to March

  • Black noble truffle (Tuber melanosporum): from December to March
